Overview of Credit Debt Analyzer
The Credit Debt Analyzer (or CDA) for Excel is a very basic spreadsheet tool to compare balances on different accounts. Overall, CDA will help you maintain a disciplined approach to reducing debt. Thus, you will see more zero balances over time. In the end, that is the goal.
CDA is completely open source.
If you are ready to start using CDA, then click on the button below to download it. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of the program.

Components of the CDA
Presently, there are two parts of the CDA: Account summary and debt data.
Account summary
So, the account summary gives you a high-level overview of your performance. With the CDA, you can compare up to eight (8) accounts.
For the most part, people consider negative numbers as a bad sign. However, in the CDA, negative numbers are good. It shows you are making progress. Of course, there will be ups and downs. Once you get good at managing your money, the change column will contain negative numbers or zeros (dashes).
Four columns make up the account summary:
- Account column – Contains the accounts you want to analyze.
- Current debt – Displays the most recent balance in your debt data.
- Beginning balance – Your starting balance. It should be the first row in the debt data.
- Change – The difference between current debt and beginning balance.
Note: You only need to update the account column. Everything other column updates automatically.
Debt data
The debt data section is where you to enter balances for each account listed in the account summary. Moreover, the column titles are automatically populated from what you enter in the account summary.
Therefore, all you have to do is enter the date and the balances for each account. The change columns and total are calculated automatically. Also, you want the beginning balance to start at the top row. If not, then the account summary will not calculate properly.
Now, some people like to update data once a month. While others update data everytime they make a payment, which could be multiple times in a month.
Note: The beginning balance is the date where you want to start analyzing data.
