Overview of Artplotty Grid 21
Artplotty Grid 21 (or APG) is an online app that allows you to create graphics and objects with numbers. So, use your creative and analytical skills to design something great.
Moreover, APG was designed to make you think and have fun doing something unique and creative.

Requirements
For the most part, to use APG, you need a web browser and access to the Internet.
The following browsers support APG 21:
- Chrome
- Firefox
- Internet Explorer 9 (IE) or higher
- Microsoft Edge
- Opera
- Safari
- Waterfox
Note: APG works best in Chrome and Microsoft Edge. In IE and certain versions of Safari, the Create PNG option does not work.
Features
- Nice 600 by 600 pixel art board
- Redraw option to display changes and corrections
- Download option to save art as an image
- Show art with or without the grid
- Multiple data sets for different types of shapes
- Enter key coordinates as whole numbers or as decimal numbers
Components of Artplotty Grid 21
Overall, the main menu, canvas, and datasets make up most of APG.
Main menu
So, the main menu contains five items: New, Save Data, Redraw, Show Grid, and Create PNG.
- New – When you open APG, it may display previous work. In that case click New to create a new job.
- Save Data – Allows you to save all your data as a text file. Later, you can upload it back into APG.
- Redraw – If you change your data, then click Redraw to refresh your canvas.
- Show grid – Use Show Grid to toggle the grid on or off.
- Create PNG – To save your work as a transparent image, click Create PNG.
Canvas
Of course, the canvas is where everything happens. It spans from 0 to 20 in both directions. That is a range of 21. Hence, the 21 in Artplotty Grid. The x-Axis is the horizontal scale, and the y-Axis is the vertical scale.
Note: Unfortunately, the axis labels do not align directly with their grid positions. Perhaps, we will address this issue in an ungrade.
Datasets
Altogether, there are two datasets with Artplotty Grid 21 – the line dataset and the circle dataset. Firstly, the line dataset plots data as lines. And, the circle dataset plots data as either circles or arcs.
In each dataset, you have the option of entering whole numbers or numbers with decimals. For example, 10 and 9.54 are both valid entries.
Using APG
With APG, you create designs by creating shapes with lines, circles, and arcs.
Creating lines
Generally speaking, a line consists of two points. For example, enter 2 for x and 5 for y. Nothing appears. But, if you enter another point, such as 18 for x and 14 for y, a line appears.
Continuing the line
If you want to continue adding lines from one point to the next, then keep entering more points.
Tip: If you want to create a break point and start drawing in another area, then skip a row in the dataset. This is mainly for line dataset.
Creating circles
In like manner, you create circles by entering data into the circle dataset. So, the x/y value represents the circle’s center. The Radius determines the size of the circle. Finally, you use Start and End to create arcs.
Arcs
As previously mentioned, you use Start and End to create arcs. Since a circle generally rotates 360 degrees, you can enter a start or end value from 0 to 360. In APG, the arc rotates clockwise.
Note: When you deal with arcs, you may need to Redraw (from main menu) the screen to view the results.
